This week I had to finish brainstorming 20 different business ideas and then pick one to start during this class. Maybe that's why when I had to sit down and reflect on learning about site builders and web hosting I had an idea for a website: What You Don't Know. You see, I started with a decent idea of what a site builder was and a vague idea of what web hosting was, but the more I tried to research the more confused I got. Specifically about web hosting.
When you look up information about web hosting you find a lot of answers, but those answers are geared toward the kind of people who are interested in web hosting and already know what it's all about. They list all kinds of specs that still mean nothing to me at this point, so they don't do me any good. And I'm sure it's good that there are so many different levels you can purchase, but how in the world am I supposed to know what I need when I've never run my own website?
So, here's my business idea. I'm comfortable publishing it here because either someone else will take it, create it, and make my life better because of it, or - more likely - no one will ever see this in the history of anything and it'll be fine.
Once again, my idea: Make a website where experts explain things about their field in plain English, not as if they were talking to an idiot, but as if they are talking to an intelligent person who just happens to not know this particular information yet. I have a 135IQ, I graduated high school at 16 with a 4.0 and have maintained my 4.0 throughout my college studies. I have had a variety of jobs and excelled at each. I home school my kids, I've taught myself to bake and decorate professional-level cakes, and so much more. I'm not an idiot. But I don't know anything about web hosting and what I need for my small-time business website that I'm creating for one little class. I'd like to find information meant for me.
I think this is a good idea.
